The Department of Petroleum Engineering was established at zawiya University's Faculty of Engineering in 2008 and is concerned with the study of refining of crude oil produced and industrial processes associated with refining and chemical industries in general. In May 2014, the Council of Ministers issued Resolution 277 for 2014, which provides for the creation of the Faculty of Oil and Gas at Zawiya University, to be operational during the 2015 academic year. The Faculty of Oil and Gas Engineering has already become a new faculty and was accredited in January 2015

<p>This faculty works to provide specialized and distinguished technical staff in the oil sector and industry.</p>
